The CILIP School Libraries Group (SLG) is an active, welcoming, and collaborative community of individuals working in school libraries and related disciplines. We work in partnership with CILIP to promote the role of School Libraries and School Librarians in the UK and also supporting our colleagues in the Schools Library Services (SLSs).
What We Do
- Campaigning: SLG actively campaigns in support of school libraries, school librarians, and Schools Library Services (SLSs).
- Member Support: SLG provides help, support, and advice to its members, as well as guidance for professional registration so that school librarians can achieve Certification and Chartership.
- Training & Webinars: SLG organises regular webinars and training courses covering a wide range of topics related to school librarianship.
- Publications: SLG publishes the journal School Libraries in View (SLiV), circulates a regular e-newsletter to members, to support professionals working in schools.
- Books: SLG publishes titles such as CILIP Guidelines for Secondary School Libraries (ISBN 9781856049696) and Creating a School Library with Impact (ISBN 9781783305537).
